Google Celebrates 4th Of July With Fully Functioning Rube Goldberg Machine [Google Celebrating America's Independence With Patriotic Rube Goldberg Machine Logo]
rube goldbergIf you’re an American, today is a great day as it is the day that back in 1776 our founding father put forth the Declaration of Independence, securing our break away from Great Britian and our independce as the United States of America. Although, beer, fireworks and grilling are probably things more along the lines of what your typical Fourth of July sounds like, as opposed to thinking about our founding fathers but that’s just a technicality – today is a day of fun.
Google is no stranger to fun and if you remember back on May 21st they updated their logo to celebrate Pac-Man’s 30th anniversary by including a fully playable Pac-Man game. Sure, it was annoying and wasted the hours of desk job workers everywhere but it was a very unqiue and innovative approach to their normal Google Doodles. What was even better about the Pac-Man Google logo is the fact that it was written utilizing HTML5 and JavaScript making it functional on a wide array of devices including the Flash-shunning iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Didn’t get a chance to check it out? You’re in luck as Google still has it up at google.com/pacman.
Now that the 30th anniversary of such a classic game has passed and July 4th is upon us, Google has again updated their logo to celebrate the occasion. This time around, instead of including a playable game, Google has included a fully functioning, patriotically themed Rube Golberg machine.
Thanks to the same programming methods utilized with the making of Pac-Man game, you can enjoy this patriotic Rube Golberg machine on all of your Flash hating iDevices.
In all seriousness though I’d like to take this time to wish all of our American readers a very happy Fourth of July. Be sure to be safe, have fun and eat some great food all in the name of America.
