Rakhi Sawant is the synonym of Oomph. After ruling Bollywood with her jhatkas and matkas, she has now got the small screen fan in thrall.

Daughter of a Mumbai cop, Rakhi graduated to stardom by dancing to music video numbers. India drooled...! Her journey to fame started when Bollywood director Suneel Darshan cast her, still in school, in ‘Joru Ka Ghulam’ opposite Govinda (an item song, of course).

The super siren with steely eyes is not one to shirk risks. She was one of the earliest Bolly celebs to jump on to the reality show bandwagon; she made her presence felt in shows such as ‘Bigg Boss’ and ‘Nach Baliye’; and even won the dance reality show, ‘Yeh Hai Jalwa’.

Though she has enough and more offers from the big screen, Rakhi finds time for TV. She is now seen on the judges’ panel of the dance-reality show, ‘Chota Packet Bada Dhamaka’ on Zee.

Rakhi, along with her ex-boyfriend Abhishek Awasthi, had participated in the dance reality show, ‘Nach Baliye’, and the duo was declared first runner-up.

Rakhi is a graduate in Arts from Mithibhai College, Mumbai.

Rakhi will be seen sharing screen space with Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee in Yash Raj's next. Rakhi was in the final four of season one of ‘Bigg Boss’. Her unrestrained behaviour had earned her the nick name “Bigmouth of Bollywood”.

Rakhi was once charged with a case of “indecent exposure” regarding a dance show in Kolhapur. Later she was let off after a warning. According to rumour-ologists, Rakhi was once forcibly kissed by Mika Singh, brother of Pop star Daler Mehendi, at his birthday party. Once on the way to participate in a chat show with her boyfriend Abhishek, Rakhi insisted on changing her clothes because she felt she didn’t look “hot” enough. She even made Abhishek change his shirt thrice before the shoot.

Rakhi’s real name is Neeru Sawant.

Rakhi used to get indecent SMS and calls on her mobile (from unknown numbers), threatening her and her family. But the bold Rakhi faced it all in silence and never reacted to it.

Rakhi played a “bindaas bimbette commentator” who knows all about fashion and films and nothing about cricket in a show called ‘Rakhi ke Bouncers’ during the last cricket world cup.
